CalSnap — Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 13, 2026

Who we are

CalSnap (“the app”, “we”) is a food-tracking app. Contact: joost.prjs@gmail.com.

The short version

CalSnap has no accounts and no login. Your meals, saved photos, and profile (height, weight, goals, settings) are stored only on your device. The one time data leaves your device is when you ask the AI to analyze a meal: that photo (and, for corrections, the text you type) is sent to our processing service to estimate calories and macros, then the result comes back. We don’t sell your data. The free version shows ads, which use an advertising identifier (see Advertising & tracking below); Premium removes all ads and ad tracking.

Who processes the photo

When you analyze a meal, the photo is processed by Anthropic (the Claude AI model) — see Anthropic’s privacy policy — and passes through a small proxy hosted on Cloudflare. We do not store your photos on our server; each request is processed and the result returned. Saved photos remain in your on-device diary until you delete them.

Retention & deletion

On-device data stays until you delete a meal or uninstall the app. To delete everything, remove the app. Photos sent for analysis are processed transiently and not retained by us.

Advertising & tracking

The free version shows ads provided by Google AdMob (a Google service). To show and measure ads, AdMob may use your device’s advertising identifier (IDFA) and ad-interaction data. On first launch we ask for permission through Apple’s App Tracking Transparency prompt — if you choose “Ask App Not to Track,” we do not use the advertising identifier for tracking, and AdMob serves only non-personalized ads. See how Google uses data.

CalSnap Premium removes all ads and the associated ad tracking. Aside from advertising, we do not track you across other companies’ apps or websites.

Children

CalSnap is not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect data from them.

Your rights (GDPR / CCPA)

Because your data is stored locally and tied to no account, you control it directly: edit or delete meals in the app, or uninstall to remove all of it. For questions, email joost.prjs@gmail.com.

Medical disclaimer

AI estimates are approximate and for general guidance only — not medical or nutritional advice.

Changes

We’ll update this page and the “Last updated” date when our practices change.
